Course description
This degree programme is designed to provide students with an in-depth knowledge and understanding of applied management principles, together with the skills necessary to succeed as leaders in the vibrant and diverse textile and clothing industry.
A key feature of the programme is the emphasis placed on management options provided by Manchester Business School. This ensures you reach a high level of understanding in key management subjects creating an ideal foundation for the textile, retail or marketing manager.
Through a mixture of lectures, seminars, projects and laboratory classes, students are introduced to management and marketing concepts and practices and to the textile industry and its materials and processes.
In the second year students build on the foundations of the first year studying areas such as product performance requirements and testing, new product development, market research and buyer behaviour as well as being able to choose from options taught by Manchester Business School.
The emphasis in the final year is on management subjects, with course units in the areas of production management, enterprise, management of design and innovation. Further options are again taken in MSM and there is an opportunity to undertake a research project.
