Objectives
Network systems, encompassing everything from multiprocessing servers to 3rd generation mobile phones, are increasingly relied upon to process, exchange and deliver a wide range of multimedia information. The Harrow School of Computer Science is well placed to support these developments by capitalising on its experience with successful undergraduate courses in networking and in multimedia computing. This new degree provides the same essential grounding in computers and in computer networks that characterise other degrees within the scheme, drawing modules from the BSc's in Computer Communications & Networks and Multimedia Computing, while adding new modules to enable the development of network professionals who are well aware of the specific technical requirements of multimedia processing, storage and transmission and as such 3will be capable of establishing and supporting the infrastructure needed as the related applications become an ever more important aspect of the computing landscape.
