    * Psychology demands a rigorous, scientific approach but its also ideal for students who are creative and innovative. * Students on our programme will develop an extensive range of transferable skills, an appreciation of scientific method and a high degree of research and analytical skills. * A degree in psychology is well respected by employers and can open up opportunities in a wide variety of sectors * The Psychology programme provides graduate basis for registration with the British Psychological Society (BPS) and will facilitate entry into postgraduate programmes which are essential to becoming a Psychologist.

    Entry requirements * Five GCSEs, grades A-C, including Maths and English Health, Forensics & Psychology * We would expect 240 UCAS Tariff points including at least two GCE A Levels.     Programme

    This is a single honours degree programme where all modules focus upon different aspects of psychology, providing an insight into the human mind, behaviour and experience. It offers a comprehensive programme of learning across key areas in psychology with an opportunity to achieve a depth of understanding in more specialised areas. During years one and two the focus is upon biological, cognitive, developmental and social psychology as well as personality and individual differences and research methods. The final year involves an individual research project, conceptual issues and critical debates in psychology and various optional modules to suit individual interests and aspirations, for example,

        * Counselling Psychology
        * Criminological & Forensic Psychology
        * Cultural Psychology and the Media
        * Health Psychology
        * Mental Health and Society
        * Psycholinguistics
        * Psychology & Education
        * The Self: Motivation and Evaluation
        * Transitions in Adulthood
        * Violence and Aggression

    Emphasis within the programme is upon human rather than animal behaviour with a particular interest in cultural aspects of psychology.

    Part time students will normally participate in half the programme in any one year.
