Objectives
The computer games industry is worth over ?10 billion annually and the UK is the largest market after Japan and the USA. The UK is the leading games developer in Europe with a turnover of ?60M a year. Successful titles like Colin McRae Rally sell millions of copies worldwide. Last year the games industry grew by 36% and with the introduction of new, more powerful consoles this growth can only continue. The games industry is now so mature that the larger companies employ several hundred people, each one a specialist programmer, artist, 3D modeller or sound engineer. This course is designed to train programmers and there are many well paid opportunities available. We teach software development, primarily for PC, XBox, and Playstation 2. Each year includes a large games development project to help you integrate skills from other core modules and build-up an impressive portfolio of games to show potential employers. Most modules are taught in small classes in a studio environment . The course also covers business development and marketing for students interested in team management or starting their own company.
