Course description
BSc Clinical Physiology
Programme
-Year 1 offers a solid introduction to the four specialisms of audiology, cardiology, neurophysiology or respiratory physiology. It explores fundamental concepts in biochemistry, and molecular and cellular biology, and encourages the application of this knowledge to an understanding of the biology of disease. It also looks at human physiology, and examines the basic principles of physics and their application to clinical physiology.
-Year 2 looks further depth at the four specialisms. It allows you to develop your knowledge of the principles of human disease. You can investigate signal processing and look at how information can be recorded, stored, and analysed in the concept of clinical physiology. You could also explore the process of interpersonal communication and psychosocial elements of ill health and disease.
-In your third or fourth year of study, you can explore practical applications of the four specialisms. You can gain an appreciation of the basic principles and research strategies that underpin advanced topics in healthcare sciences, and explore issues surrounding control, audit and assurance. You also undertake an Honours project of your choice.
