Course description
BSc Architectural Design Technology and Production
Programme
This course has been recognised by the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) as meeting established standards in terms of resources, course content, staff, teaching quality assurance and graduate progression within the profession and qualifies the holder for Associate membership.
Career opportunities are reflected in the design of the course. Delivery of the course is centred on three inter-related contexts:
* The professional context: architectural design, the client, the legal and planning framework, management issues and the communication of design decisions
* The industrial/manufacturing context: design, performance, manufacture and production of components
* The industrial/construction context: new build construction and site assembly, including an overview of the whole building design, and refurbishment/renovation, including building performance.
Part-time study involves attendance on one day per week during the academic year. Sandwich students undertake placements in a wide range of professional and construction companies in the third year of their course.
