Objectives
Our courses are designed to allow increasing specialisation throughout your degree. At level one you take 12 ten-credit modules which introduce you to the fundamentals of sociological and policy analysis, and you study options from the department and wider University. At levels two and three your modules become more specialised. Throughout your course you receive training in research techniques, information retrieval, group and presentation skills, study and analytical skills. In the final year all students write a long essay or dissertation on a subject of their own choice. This involves a sustained study project, which is individually supervised by a member of staff, and provides the opportunity for undertaking field research.
