Course description
BA Painting
Programme
Year 1
The focus is on equipping you with both technical and conceptual vocabularies. You will be introduced to key thinkers and ideas as well as to historical and contemporary processes and media. You will make, think, write and speak about your practice and gain an understanding of different methodologies for researching and making. You will begin to set an agenda for your work and to reflect on, and evaluate, your progress.
Year 2
This year looks outward, at how work is received in different contexts, and how questions of authorship and reception affect what is made. You will also present and debate your work within the public arena. You will take an elective unit, selected from a broad range of options to enhance your core subject of study.
Year 3
You will be planning, developing and realising your individual, self-initiated programme of study. You will be carrying out sustained practical and contextual research. Through a choice of dissertation, work placement or live project you will explore your practice in depth. You will develop your ideas using an appropriate research based methodology and work towards a completed body of work.
