Course description
BA Modern Languages with Management
Programme
First Year
In the first year you study two languages from those on offer within the School, one of which may be taken at Beginners’ level. You also follow two modules in the School of Management: these are Foundations of Management and Introduction to Marketing. All students normally attend a three-week summer school in France, Germany, Italy or Spain during the first summer vacation, which is heavily subsidised by the University.
Second Year
In the second year you may choose between continuing with two languages plus Management modules, or, for students taking French, Italian or Spanish, concentrating on that language alone. In either case Management modules will constitute thirty credits of your programme. In Management you will choose from options such as Human Resource Management and Managing Organisations.
Third Year
You can choose to continue the study of two languages together with modules in Management, or, for students taking French, Italian or Spanish, to focus on the language of your choice together with modules in Management. In either case the Management modules will constitute thirty credits of your programme. The final year includes a compulsory International Business module plus one further option. Modules within the School of Modern Languages include a range of courses on historical, cultural and linguistic topics.
