BA Media Studie
Programme
At DMU, Media Studies students learn the practical skills which enable them to develop creative and informed solutions in the workplace.
A Media Studies degree also gives students the opportunity to become knowledgeable, reflective and critical thinkers, able to understand and debate the media in all its forms.
The programme is aimed at students who want to combine both a theoretical study of the media with sound vocational skills and who are aiming for an exciting media career on graduation.
Students study four set modules in their first year, giving them a sound understanding of both media theory and practice. In the second and third years students can select from a wide range of modules as they start to specialize in their particular fields of interest.

* Media Industry Management
* Photography and Video
* Political Communication
* Public Relations
* Radio
* Television Scriptwriting
* Television Studies
In the third year, students also complete a dissertation on a topic of their choice which allows them to develop and research their specialist interests
Many of the practical modules are run in collaboration with the media industry and allow students to work on real-life case studies, go on work experience placements and visit media organizations. Guest media industry lecturers are also a regular feature on practical courses. In addition, students have the opportunity to work on DMUs award-winning student radio station, Demon FM and the Universitys Demon newspaper.
