Course description
Modules included in this BA in Media and Cultural Studies.
You will explore these topics through written work and through the production of various kinds of media including photography, video, interactive websites and journalism. The programmes are designed to encourage a critical approach to contemporary culture and an informed understanding of social change. Effective thinking and the ability to communicate across a range of media are central. Our programmes also use media production as a tool to study culture, and to develop skills through a range of media technology.
The School of Cultural Studies has good links wtih local media centres and Bristol's cutural scene is rich and exciting, too. The city has independent media and cultural centres such as the Watershed, the Cube and the Arnolfini as well as the usual multiplexes, and a renowned music and club culture. A broad range of other cultural activities are available, including the famous Bristol Old Vic theatre and museums such as the Commonwealth and Empire Museum.
