General information
BA (Hons) Business with (Option Choice: Human Resources Management or Marketing or Finance) is a full-time course offered in partnership with the University of Greenwich (UoG).
It is a three year programme, with the first two years of study taking place at Bromley College and the final year at the University of Greenwich's own Maritime campus.
Your chosen option choice of either HRM, Finance or Marketing is double-weighted (30 rather than 15 credits) and runs throughout each of the 3 years alongside the complementary course content for your Business degree.
The degree is designed to prepare people for active participation in the management of business. It includes a wide range of personal skills and the experience demanded by employers. Studying for a higher education award in Business will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to establish a career in business. In particular, the specialisation (Option Choice) will equip you for entry into those professional areas. A BA degree could provide the opportunity for you to undertake a graduate traineeship in business. Additionally, most professional institutions offer exemption from parts of their qualifications.
Course content
Year 1 - Economic Environment, Business Functions, Quantitative Techniques for Business, Personal and Professional Development, Legal Framework of Business, plus one option chosen from marketing, finance and human resources (double-weighted).
Year 2 - Project Planning, Personal and Professional Development, Management Information Systems, Managing People and Culture, Value Chain Management, plus continuation of chosen option (double-weighted).
Year 3 - Strategic management, Independent Research (double-weighted), Contemporary Issues in Management, Personal and Professional Development, Organisational Behaviour, continuation of chosen option (double-weighted).
Teaching and assessment
Learning consists of a blend of lectures, group work, discussions and individual study. The syllabus has a theoretical basis combined with contextual analysis. Students make a significant contribution from their individual experiences.
Progression
A good pass at BA (Hons) Business enables students to continue their studies towards a Masters degree or membership of professional institutions in areas such as Marketing (CIM) and Human Resources (CIPD).
