Entry requirements
The student must be 17 years or older and completed a minimum of 1 year at college. A satisfactory reference will be required from previous course regarding attendance and time keeping. All students are expected to be competent in travelling independently and to be able to establish a good working relationship with both staff and their peers.

Course description
General information
The Work Preparation course is designed for students who need to develop their skills for future employment. The vocational subjects included have been selected for their practical application and the emphasis on team work, which is a crucial element of any job. Where appropriate, students will have the opportunity to study for examination accreditation in: ASDAN FE Level Up Award ASDAN Foundation for Work EDi Skills for Working Life (Entry Level 3). All students will be introduced to appropriate supporting services to assist them in achieving eventual employment.
Course content
The course programme will include:
* Catering
* Media
* Manufacturing
* Independent Living
* Social Education
* Foundation for Work Studies
* Tutorial and Work Experience
Each student will continue to develop their literacy and numeracy skills through practical application.
Teaching and assessment
Assessment is continuous, mainly by practical assignments in all subjects, simulated work projects or work experience. All students will receive recognition of their achievements at the end of the course. Students will undertake work experience during the Spring and Summer terms of between one to two days per week. Placements will be organised by the co-ordinator.
Progression
This course is designed for students moving into employment, but students can progress to other FE courses at college, or training courses.
