ObjectivesA growing number of businesses are concerned with increasing the strategic exploitation of technology and are using the web in rapidly changing and increasingly complex and critical ways. This MSc will equip you with the appropriate business, technical and personal skills, along with the vision and technical competence to design and develop complex web systems, as well as integrate them into industry and business environments. To ensure that the course content is relevant and up to date, the academic teaching on this career-enhancing course is complemented by visiting industry experts. In response to the needs of the industry, this course is offered with a management studies option.

Course descriptionWhat will you study?
You will study current web business practices and gain an in-depth understanding of the tools and web technologies necessary for business application design and development. You will learn to specify and design identity management and security requirements for web services, and apply appropriate tools and techniques to design an e-business architecture. You will look at the ethical, legal and professional issues in the development of web business applications.
You will also learn how to design and develop bespoke products and services delivered over the internet that support business objectives and add value to an organisation. By looking at the design and management of information systems, you will be able to recognise and accommodate the rate of change and instability in the business and information environment that is created by social, economic, political and technical changes. The Research Methods module prepares you for your project/dissertation.
Following the ‘with management studies’ route, you will learn the fundamentals of marketing, finance and/or managing people and organisations, which will set your technical knowledge in a management context.
