ObjectivesThis MSc aims to produce high quality graduates with specialist training in fluid dynamics who will be suitable for employment in the aerospace, mechanical, chemical, offshore and water engineering industries. You do a mixture of topics in theoretical, computational, and experimental fluid mechanics.
Entry requirementsEntry requirements: The entry requirement to the programmes is normally a good honours degree in mathematics, computer science or a mathematically-related discipline or an equivalent overseas qualification in a mathematical subject.
Typical core course units include: basic fluid dynamicss, perturbation methods in fluid mechanics, computational fluid dynamics I and II. Optional course units usually include: coastal hydrodynamics, hydrodynamic stability theory, introduction to combustion theory and linear and nonlinear waves. You take two optional course-units, but not all the options may be offered every year. You also take non-examinable course units in FORTRAN 77/90, UNIX, C++, Matlab, Mathematica, LaTex, Word, technical report writing and oral presentation.
