This course will prepare students for a career in the fast changing world of telecommunications and networks. The syllabus covers the recent major technological developments in telecommunications and networks including:
* Digital, mobile and wireless communications
* Photonics and optical communications
* Internet and web service security
* Communication networks
The course provides the skills and knowledge base for a professional career as design and development engineers in the mobile, wireless, internet, optical and telecommunications sectors or a higher research degree course.

* Advanced cryptanalysis

Students undertake an individual project. This project provides an opportunity for students to undertake a substantial piece of work, developed in close collaboration with research groups within the School.
