Course overview
This exciting course focuses of the topical areas in the world of systems and control. The syllabus covers the recent major technological developments in:
* Systems and control
* Optimisation and optimal control
* Control systems design
* Advanced control techniques and applications
The course draws on the knowledge of leading experts and active researchers at The City University.
Control systems can be seen in all areas of processes and manufacturing as well as in such fields as national utilities, vehicles and aerospace. Opportunities exist in all these areas.
Course content
The course consists of modules, covering the most important aspects of systems and control:
* Signals and information technology
* Mathematical techniques for systems and control
* Control and measurement
* Systems modelling
* Control systems design
* Linear and non-linear systems
* Optimisation and optimal control
* Advanced control techniques and applications
* Research skills and techniques module, to provide a sound foundation for the project and research work
Students also undertake an individual project. This project period provides an opportunity for students to undertake a substantial piece of work, developed in close collaboration with research groups within the school at the forefront of their technological field.
