Sustainable Agriculture Master in Science by Research

  • Objectives (a) equip the student for a research career in a selected area of sustainable or organic agriculture (b) provide the student with a basis for further study at PhD level in a range of appropriate agricultural subjects (c) provide the student with an up-to-date knowledge of the principles and issues associated with research into and the development of sustainable agricultural systems.
  • Entry requirements Successful applicants must normally hold at least a lower second Honours degree in a related subject. Applicants with a lower class of degree and/or from outside of these areas will be considered individually and are usually interviewed prior to being offered a place. Applicants without a first degree, but who have relevant work experience, are also considered on an individual basis.
  • Academic title Sustainable Agriculture Master in Science by Research
  • Course description This course is aimed at students who wish to pursue a research degree in sustainable agriculture. The course is suitable for students wishing to obtain a short introduction to research prior to directly entering a research environment in employment or as a research student at PhD level.

    In addition, the programme is suitable for people who are already employed in appropriate research and development environments to study for a higher degree on a part-time basis. Students who have training needs that are more specific than those offered by the current taught masters provision would find this course a viable alternative.

    Course content

    A limited range of taught modules are offered and suitable supervisors are also available to support students undertaking this programme.

    Projects will be offered in the following areas:

        * Alternative Agricultural Systems,
