ObjectivesThe course aims of the MSc in Supply Chain Management are: * To provide a framework within which students develop an in-depth understanding of supply chain management and the different ways it contributes to competitive advantage and to the wealth and advancement of society. * To provide students with a range of knowledge, tools and skills and the ability to use these in a variety of operational situations through learning by doing. * To develop the students ability to think analytically in order to successfully apply their knowledge and technical expertise to the solution of real business problems. * To support and encourage students to develop their individual managerial and research capabilities in order to equip them to become the effective supply chain managers and change agents of the future.
Entry requirementsYou will normally be expected to have an honours degree but entry qualifications are flexible and applications are welcomed from for mature candidates and those with industrial experience. We are always willing to talk to you about your experience and to look at how that may be credited against the academic requirements of certain programmes.

Course descriptionRecognition that effective supply chain management plays a critically important role in the competitive advantage of most world class organisations has focused growing attention on its teaching and practical application. In many organisations, purchased goods and services account for up to 80% of product cost, therefore the management of the supply chain has become a competitive priority. Even in public sector organisations and those where the purchased content is lower, there is an ever-increasing demand for effectiveness and efficiency in the procurement and logistics process.
Escalating competition and the globalisation of supply markets make it essential that supply professionals keep up to date and broaden their capabilities in key areas such as strategy, E-commerce, product development, sourcing, purchasing & supply, supplier development, logistics, contracts management, supplier quality and project management.
This course has been developed to meet the needs of such professionals, whether they be employed or are studying in preparation for employment. It aims to equip the student with a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management through the development of knowledge, skills and expertise in the subject together with the capability to undertake a practical research study and publish its results.

Postgraduate engineering courses have also been developed jointly between MS Ramaiah School of Advanced Studies, Bangalore, India and Coventry University. The curriculum has been developed as per Coventry University rules and regulations and complies with QAA standards. Coventry University confers the MSc Supply Chain Management degree to successful candidates. MSRSAS also conducts PhD degrees with Coventry University. The research programme is in the areas of mechanical, electronics and engineering related management.

Teaching and Learning Resources
Courses are taught in our excellent Graduate and CPD centre, which provides first rate classroom and social facilities particularly designed for the needs of both full-time students and part-time students who may be coming to study after work.
Classes are taught by academics with a long track record of working with industry and who bring in leading industry experts wherever that is possible. The University Library is only a short walk from the Graduate and CPD centre and is therefore very easy to access either before or after class and at weekends.
Course content
This course has been designed with the needs of full-time students and industrial part-time delegates in mind, indeed we talked with our partners when we developed the material. Each course consists of 8 taught modules, study skills, research methods and a project. The modules are studied in a block mode, one module at a time. This means that you focus on one subject and complete it before moving on to the next.
Attendance is full time with 35 hours (MSc) contact time per module. The daytime modules are delivered to a mixture of full-time and part-time delgates, which gives great opportunity to share experiences and network across different cultures and industries.
Full-time day attendance: 2 week delivery with a total of ten 1/2 day lecture sessions per module
You will normally study for one year. However, depending on your date of entry to the course, this can be extended to up to one and a half years in order for you to complete the programme of 8 taught modules and the individual project.
A study skills and research methods module is taught throughout the programme.
In addition the student must satisfactorily complete an individual project.
