  • Course description Recognition that effective supply chain management plays a critically important role in the competitive advantage of most world class organisations has focused growing attention on its teaching and practical application. In many organisations, purchased goods and services account for up to 80% of product cost, therefore the management of the supply chain has become a competitive priority. Even in public sector organisations and those where the purchased content is lower, there is an ever-increasing demand for effectiveness and efficiency in the procurement and logistics process.

Escalating competition and the globalisation of supply markets make it essential that supply professionals keep up to date and broaden their capabilities in key areas such as strategy, E-commerce, product development, sourcing, purchasing & supply, supplier development, logistics, contracts management, supplier quality and project management.

This course has been developed to meet the needs of such professionals, whether they be employed or are studying in preparation for employment. It aims to equip the student with a comprehensive understanding of supply chain management through the development of knowledge, skills and expertise in the subject together with the capability to undertake a practical research study and publish its results.

Job satisfaction and remuneration prospects are excellent, with employer demand for those with a supply chain background outstripping the supply of suitably qualified applicants.
