Course descriptionThis programme enables professional social workers to gain a post qualifying award in the specialist area of mental health. The programme is approved with the General Social care Council and is part time, modular and flexible in its delivery allowing students to study between one and 5 years. Entry requirements consist of a professional social work qualification, registration with the GSCC and access to practice opportunities.
Key areas of study including statutory mental health practice, mental capacity, safeguarding adults and contemporary issues in mental health. Those wishing to study for the new role of Approved Mental health Practitioner are advised to seek guidance from the programme leader.
