    This programme provides a firm grounding in advanced social research techniques and quantitative methods, taught within an applied social science framework.

    Module details
    Compulsory units include Methodology and Research Design, Statistical Foundations and Qualitative Research Methods.Optional course units include: Survey Research; Design and Analysis of Complex Surveys; Longitudinal Data Analysis; Design and Analysis of Complex Surveys; Figuring out Society; Applied Demography; Introduction to Quantitative Methods; Multiple Regression; Logistic regression; Multilevel Modelling; Data Reduction and Classification; Sampling Theory; Conceptualising Longitudinal Data Analysis; and Introducing Longitudinal Data Analysis.  The course units are undergoing some refinement and expansion during 2007/08.  The amended course unit list will be available during 2008 for 2008 entry.  For further details about the aims of the degree course, applicants can refer to the ESRC post-graduate Training Guidelines for area F18, Statistics, Methods and Computing.  We also deliver the whole range of recommended 'generic' research methodology training found in the ESRC's guidelines.
