ObjectivesThe aims of this course are to explore both the theoretical aspects and practical applications of medical statistics with individuals originating from the biomedical sciences who have a non mathematical background.

Candidates will normally be expected to possess one of the following qualifications before entry:
* An Honours degree (at least a 2.2, or its equivalent) in a relevant biological subject from a UK (or equivalent) University
* A professional qualification of equivalent status
* Any other such qualification and experience deemed equivalent in subject content and level of attainment by the admissions panel.
In addition a good command of English is essential to enable successful completion of the programmes:
* The minimum requirement is the British Council IELTS grade 6.5 or its equivalent.

* T test and ANOVA, validity interpretation least squares difference tests
* Non parametric tests - validity and interpretation
* Linear Regression - validity, residuals outliers and interpretation
* Non linear regression, multivariate regression and modelling
* Survival Analysis including Kaplan Meier, proportional hazards, and Cox regression
* Limitations and interpretation
* Cluster analysis and Principal components analysis.
Course information
The School of Science and Technology at Nottingham Trent University is offering a series of short courses within the molecular biosciences, developed specifically for individuals within the health service, pharmaceutical industry, biotechnology companies and related SMEs. These three day courses may also be used as a contribution towards a Masters degree.

Assessment
Assessment will comprise a written assignment (60%) and an IT statistics workbook assessment (40%).
