Content details
The BTEC Introductory Certificate is designed to widen participation in vocationally related qualifications. It offers a broad introduction to a vocational science sector and develops the personal skills and attributes that learners need in order to develop confidence in their ability to work, learn and achieve their full potential. The aim of the BTEC Introductory Certificate to stimulate interest in scientific achievements in learners who may be aged 14-19 and wish to follow a vocationally related course. Learners choosing to study this course may wish to make a fresh start on a course that offers a different learning and assessment style to GCSE's or they could be post-19 and intend to return to education/training or prepare for employment. Learners will also develop major key skills and the wider key skills in context, such as improving their own learning and performance and working with others.
How is the course taughtThe course is taught through practical investigation and demonstrations. The course will also include speakers from the science community.
Assessment
The course is assessed through assignments throughout the year that will build into a portfolio.
