ObjectivesYou will not only achieve advanced knowledge and expertise, but also the leadership and critical self-reflection skills needed to be at the forefront of rehabilitation planning and service delivery. You will take core studies in rehabilitation and research within the School of Physiotherapy. A member of academic staff from the School of Social Work will support and mentor you. You can also take option modules and assessment of competence in social work professional practice modules within the School of Social Work.
Entry requirementsThis course offers a unique opportunity for registered social workers to undertake a programme in a specialised practice area, develop their research skills and meet the GSCC requirements of social work post-qualifying higher specialist and advanced levels.

Course descriptionWhat will you study?
You will develop a critical understanding of the key policy drivers in rehabilitation and critically evaluate the implications on your own practice, particularly in relation to the delivery of person-centred rehabilitation. You will also gain critical awareness and systematic understanding of research methods used in rehabilitation research, and learn how to advance the most current evidence-based programmes of care in relation to the complex and changing needs of individuals with a disability.
The course also has a strong focus on the development of personal leadership skills, allowing you to deliver advanced practice to promote effective interprofessional working and service delivery.
