  • Course description COURSE INFORMATION
    This Professional Masters Programme is aimed at graduates wanting to pursue a career in either the Property or Construction sector.

    This incorporates a wide range of career opportunity such as;

        * commercial property management, investment and agency
        * property development
        * commercial management of construction
        * quantity surveying
        * building surveying
        * construction management
        * project management.

    It will provide an opportunity for those wishing to commence a career in the built environment sector from a non-cognate base. Employers are seeking out graduates who can provide added value in the form of a non-vocational first degree to go with the vocational Masters qualification. As a result, graduate employment levels are very high.

    Our Professional Masters programmes commence in September and are designed to be completed in two years. They are delivered over the following semester based structure;

    Year 1
    Semester 1 - September to January (15 week schedule)

    Semester 2 - February to June (15 week schedule)

    Semester 3 - June to September (10 weeks study time)

    Year 2
    Semester 4 - September to January (15 weeks schedule)

    Semester 5 - February to June (15 weeks schedule)

    Semester 6 - June to September (10 weeks study time)

    COURSEWORK AND ASSESSMENT
    Modules will be assessed by approximately 50% Coursework and 50% Examination. Coursework will be submitted on-line at well managed intervals during the programme. Where examinations are the form of assessment, suitable locations will be identified which will be determined by student demand and place of residence.

    CAREERS
    The programme accommodates students who wish to begin employment as soon as possible at graduation and provides a means of efficient access to a career beyond their undergraduate academic subject area. Because of the recognised benefits of recruiting from a high quality postgraduate base, the programme has the support of employers. In addition to employers, the programme also fulfils the longstanding aspiration of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) to attract motivated and high quality 'non-cognate' as well as 'close-cognate' graduates into the profession. The School has entered into a partnership with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) to promote excellence in teaching and the surveying profession. On enrolling on the programme students will be eligible to begin the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence.
