  • Objectives The CIM Professional Postgraduate Diploma is designed for existing CIM Professional Diploma or Advanced Certificate holders, or those with substantial marketing experience. This course seeks to build on the more tactical / operational issues covered at Professional Diploma or Advanced Certificate level and to develop a thorough understanding of the strategic issues and challenges confronting the marketing professional.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirementsApplicants should possess one of the following:-CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing / CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing / CIM Advanced Certificate in Sales Management;-or a business-related first degree or postgraduate award with significant Marketing content;-or approved experience in sales or marketing, including 3 years at senior management level, subject to substantiated evidence;-or an NVQ / SVQ Level 4 award in an appropriate subject; or other equivalent CIM-approved awards.

    Accreditation
    Nottingham Business School is an accredited CIM Study Centre.

    Assessment
    Assessment is via external examinations that are set, administered and assessed by the CIM. There is no continuous assessment option on offer at Nottingham Business School.

    Course content
    The Professional Postgraduate Diploma builds upon practical skills in strategic marketing management and increases your strategic perspective. It is ideal for marketers who are concerned with managing the marketing process, as well as those who are looking to build on the knowledge gained at Professional Diploma level with a future senior marketing management role in mind.

    The content is designed in consultation with employers to ensure that you gain the relevant competencies for various stages of your marketing career. It covers:

    -the concept of business orientation and the different orientations in management and planning and the roles of marketing used by organisations;
    -a range of corporate and business visions, missions and objectives and the processes by which they are formulated, in light of the changing bases of competitive advantage across geographically diverse markets
    -the techniques available for integrating teams and activities across the organisation, specifically relating to brands and customer-facing processes, and instilling learning within the organisation;
    -Identify and critically evaluate marketing issues within various environments, utilising a wide variety of marketing techniques, concepts and models.

    Modules are delivered over two evenings each week with classes starting at 6 pm and finishing at 9 pm. Members of the CIM teaching team at Nottingham Business School are well qualified academically, and possess significant commercial experience. They are committed to helping you get the best out of your studies

    The teaching methods employed are varied to suit all learning styles. There is typically a mix of lecture, small group work, exam technique practice.

    Introduction
    An induction evening is held before teaching starts to prepare you for the course. At these more informal sessions, you are encouraged to mix with one another whilst ensuring that you have the basic minimum knowledge to benefit from the course.

    Professional development
    For those students who are already CIM members, attendance on this course qualifies for Continuing Professional Development hours.
