Modules are assessed by a combination of written assignments, presentations, service-focused assignments, case studies, multiple choice questions and online assessments.
How do you study?
This part-time course runs over 16 months from January to April with 26 days of study at Nottingham Trent University. The course is delivered through taught modules at the University for one day per week. You will also be involved in developing your skills and knowledge in the workplace. You receive support throughout your studies from our excellent teaching staff alongside e-mail contact with tutors. There is also an element of distance learning, as the Child and Young Person Development module is delivered via our virtual learning portal.
Resources and facilities
The teaching team has considerable experience of working with those who deliver services to children and young people. As well as support from excellent teaching staff, there is also the opportunity to access a wide range of facilities such as the £13 million library, Fitness Suite and Student Support Centre.
Research opportunities
The course is subject to a number of successful research proposals and students will take part in a service-focused collaborative evaluation. Individual students will be able to identify personal benefits they might expect from being participants on the course. These, along with their learning, will be reviewed and evaluated at the end of the programme to assess achievements and success of the course. Education Welfare Managers will identify critical success factors appropriate to the service and these will also be evaluated. Findings will be presented to stakeholders when the data has been processed.
