Taught by Wayne Martin of the Arts University Costume with Performance Design School, for students who want to explore this vintage era’s liberating feminine values in this expressionistic form of cutting.

The course will take you on a journey of body shape, fabric used and the cut by looking at Haute Couture designers. You will learn a unique traditional technique that was used by Channel, Christian Dior and Nina Richie to cut fashionable dresses of that period. Though practical demonstrations you will be taught, ‘Cutting on the Stand,’ that will be applied to your own work.
What you need to bring
Notebook, ruler, pencil, rubber and a sewing kit containing: paper scissors, small pointed embroidery scissors, cutting shears, tape measure, pins, needles, white cotton thread. Calico and Pattern paper will be supplied.
