  • Entry requirements Entry Conditions Students must normally have gained at least an upper second class honours degree in a business studies or a related area from a recognised institution, or an equivalent academic or professional qualification. Exceptionally, applicants who do not satisfy the above requirements may be admitted at the discretion of the Subject Committee, if they possess prior experiential learning.

  • Course description This programme will enable students to acquire a knowledge and understanding of the political, social and cultural aspects of different trade blocs, particularly the European Union, Asia and the USA. It is designed to provide a coherent academic progression for students who will explore the overall environment in which international business takes place before focusing on management issues in international firms.

    Given the far reaching effects of international trade and commerce, globalisation, and the changing political climate affecting business, this programme provides opportunities for students in all areas of the world to develop their knowledge and skills in the areas of international business, management, marketing, leadership, finance, global policy and strategy, and much more.

    Duration and Mode of Attendance

    Attendance is flexible.

    PGDip International Business Part-time - two academic years

    This programme is a 120-credit point (or 24 credit hours), with eight modules. All modules are compulsory, with no optional modules. All academic content and instruction is delivered via web-supported technology (WebCT).

    To progress to the Master of Science Degree students must successfully complete the Postgraduate Diploma.

    MSc International Business Part-time - two calendar years

    This programme is a 180-credit point (or 36 credit hours), with nine modules (8 taught modules plus a dissertation/research project). All modules are compulsory, with no optional modules. Academic content and instruction is delivered via web-supported online technology (WebCT).

    The taught elements of the programme are supported by an E-tutors and module teams. Skills and knowledge are assessed through assignments and interaction with peers and tutors throughout the programme. There are no formal examinations within this programme as it is 100% coursework assessed.

    Careers And Postgraduate Opportunities

    The programme is aimed at students who are currently in junior to middle management within large corporations with the view that they will develop the necessary skills and knowledge to advance to senior management positions in international companies. Additionally, the programme is open to students who have not yet aggregated extensive practical work experience, but have aspirations to secure senior management positions.
