Entry requirementsEntry Conditions Applicants must normally hold a second-class honours degree or better in a relevant art and design discipline from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification or demonstrate evidence of exceptional ability appropriate to the programme. We also welcome applications from practicing professionals who might wish to extend their knowledge base by pursuing a particular practical design research path. The PgDip/MDes aims to meet these needs by offering both full-time and part-time attendance modes.
Academic titlePostgraduate Diploma/MDes Design Communication
Course descriptionAs a result of the broad thrust of developing technologies, the range of creative options and combinations available to designers are growing almost daily. Designers are now free to combine previously specialist activities (sound, video and animation) within their portfolio of activity. The course directly addresses the dynamic challenge of this new creative and technological environment within a professional business context.
The PgDip/MDes in Design Communication addresses the deficit of Masters level design study in N.Ireland. It aims to foster growth in the creative industries. Our philosophy also recognises the potential to exploit meaningful links with our educational and professional colleagues within the island of Ireland and internationally.
Practical research proposals from candidates interested in Graphic Design, Image making (illustration/photography), 3D Design and Moving image (animation/video) will form part of the application process. However, applications that envisage an interdisciplinary activity are particularly welcome.
