Postgraduate Diploma Legal Practice Course (full-time)

  • Objectives The Faculty was one of the first institutions to be validated by the Legal Practice Course Board to offer the Legal Practice Course. In March 1996, December 1996, March 1999, November 2000, and again in July 2003, it received the highest quality assessment rating of 'excellent' from the Law Society. This award is recognised by the Law Society as part of the vocational training for those wishing to qualify as solicitors. It is preparation for a training contract, but also leads to the award of the University's Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
  • Entry requirements Applicants normally have: -a recognised Law degree of a UK university or college of Higher Education, or -passed or been granted exemption from the CPE or the Diploma of Law. Full details and other information will be found in The Law Society's Training Regulations, copies of which may be obtained from The Law Society, Professional Standards and Development Directorate, Ipsley Court, Redditch, Worcestershire B98 0TD. You must possess a Certificate of Enrolment and a Certificate of Completion of the Academic Stage of Training from The Law Society at the beginning of the course.

    You study the core compulsory area and legal skills area subjects prescribed by The Law Society. In addition, you choose three law subjects from the following list:

    -Corporate Finance
    -Employment Law
    -Estate Planning
    -Family Breakdown
    -Local Government Law
    -Media and Entertainment Law
    -Mergers and Acquisitions
    -Public Childcare and Housing Law
