  • Objectives The Postgraduate Certificate in GIS aims to provide a GIS course for those wishing to pursue continuing professional development (CPD) or to gain some GIS expertise to apply in their work context and who are able to attend the University to study. The Postgraduate Certificate can be used as a building block to a full MSc as students who successfully complete the Postgraduate Certificate can apply to join our Postgraduate Diploma and move on to the MSc/Postgraduate Diploma in Geographical Information Systems.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Applicants will normally have a second class degree in any subject. Alternatively you may hold equivalent academic or professional qualifications. Applications will also be considered from those who do not possess a degree, but who have extensive professional experience. For applicants whose first language is not English, evidence of a minimum standard of English is required. The usual requirement is a score of 6,5 on the British Council IELTS test, or its equivalent.

    -Teaching is by a combination of lecture- and seminar-based courses, field visits and individual research. Assessment is through essays and project work (including group work). Students are encouraged to develop their transferable skills, including IT and oral presentation.
