  • Objectives This Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Adolescent Mental Health builds upon the work of the BSc(Hons) Child and Young Person's Mental Health. The programme philosophy is derived from the need to develop a set of principles and values which should underpin child and adolescent mental health service delivery that includes children, families and their social networks.

    This course sits within the MSc Mental Health and involves 60 credits that can be offered at Level 3 (20 credits) and Level M (40 credits), alternatively all three modules can be studied at M Level, depending upon previously study and work experience.

    There are two compulsory modules at Level M and the choice of one from two core modules offered at Level 3 and Level M.

    Teaching and learning

    A variety of teaching methods will be used throughout the programme and may include seminars, lecturer and facilitator learning, individual presentations and role play.

    Assessment

    Methods of assessment include developing a portfolio of learning, seminar presentations and essays.

    Entry requirements

    You should be a UK graduate with an honours degree with relevant content, or an international graduate with the equivalent qualification or have other qualifications but with two or more years of relevant work experience.

    Students' experiences as user/carers will be considered and applications are welcome from individuals engaged in working with children and adolescents with an interest in their mental health and well-being. Potential students from non-standard entry routes will also be considered on an individual basis.
