    The course is suitable for graduates in the disciplines of Maritime Studies, Transport, Environmental Studies, Business Administration, Business Studies, Economics, Geography, Engineering or related areas.

    Applications will be considered from graduates with an Honours degree from an approved university or those with a similar level of qualification gained by other methods. Non-graduates with approved professional qualifications or work experience may also be considered under certain circumstances.

    Applicants whose first language is not English will be required to pass either IELTS/TOEFL exams, obtaining a minimum score of IELTS band 6.5 or 570 in TOEFL (230 for computer-based marking).

    This is a postgraduate/post-experience course designed to equip students with knowledge of issues and techniques related to the management and operation of modern ports and ships.

    The degree scheme has much in common with the MSc programmes in International Transport and Marine Policy and offers a shipping/port-focused choice of courses. However, there is no requirement to submit a dissertation.

    Students often choose to follow the Diploma because of time constraints, as it can be completed in 9 months of full-time study rather than the year required for the MSc.
