Course descriptionThis programme builds on the foundations of physical education and sport provided by schools and colleges through the physical education National Curriculum and wider programmes in sport and leisure.
The programme provides theoretical courses related to the scientific, psychological and sociological study of physical education and sport, and practical courses in athletics, dance, games, gymnastics and swimming. A residential course forms part of the outdoor and adventure experience.
Throughout the degree, there are courses related to sport policy, practice and development which consider the principles of teaching and coaching as well as sport in the local, national and international community. In the final year, students have an opportunity to undertake courses from a range of options, as well as pursue a relevant independent study in their chosen area.
