PhD-MPhil Renewable Materials

  • Course description Research is concentrated on the fundamental science of wood and plant fibres, natural fibre reinforced composites, and the use of plant-derived materials as chemical feedstocks; particular attention is paid to environmental impacts.

    Current research investigates: Wood ultrastructure and decay mechanisms, chemical modification, preservation and flow; Composite properties; Chemical products from plants.

    Study Overseas

    We offer 'split' PhD/MPhil programmes for international students with part of the study taking place in the student's own country or a third country.  Many of our British and other European students also carry out fieldwork overseas for their research.
