This programme provides an understanding of the key principles of leadership and management and examines the application of these principles to the roles and activities of middle leadership and management in schools. This programme offers a unique opportunity to develop skills in leadership in the curriculum or in personal support by staff in all sectors aspiring to, or in, middle management roles. It also offers opportunities for teachers who aspire to, or who are working within the context of, faith-based education. The programme will be of interest to principal teachers and those aspiring to this role.

Each course has a similar pattern combining a taught element, a distance learning element and an assignment drawing from work in school. In addition to the taught classes there are online activities to support the development of work-based tasks and assignments. The three core courses cover the major elements of middle leadership and management in schools and are designed to collectively provide a critical understanding of the principles underpinning middle leadership and management and to provide structured and coherent opportunities to apply these principles to practice in school.
