Leadership and service-improvement tools and techniques are key elements in a modern health and social care community. This course uses real-life opportunities to develop these skills and have an impact on service delivery. It is open to a wide range of people working in any aspect of health and social care who wish to lead and develop their service.
Year 1
Health & Social Care in Context
This module explores current drivers for modernisation and service improvement to develop a political awareness and proactive leadership.
Advanced Personal Effectiveness in Leadership
This module uses self-assessment and diagnostics to develop a self-awareness of leadership behaviours and a personal action plan for effectiveness.
Leading Service Improvement
This module uses action learning to help lead real service improvement projects that are relevant to your role in practice and organisational need.
Year 2
Developing Partnership Working
This modules explores the principles of partnership and integrated working in your area of practice.
Designing Research Projects
This module develops a critical understanding of research methods to prepare for your dissertation.
Option module
You can select any available module relevant to your award.
Dissertation
This module involves carrying out a research study.
Course structure
You'll explore current drivers of modernisation and service improvement to develop your political awareness and proactive leadership. From the very start you'll work on real-life service-improvement projects so you can apply what you learn to your area of practice. You'll undertake 360-degree diagnostic appraisal and personal action planning to develop your effectiveness. Action learning will be used to facilitate your leadership of a real service-improvement project relevant to your practice role and the needs of your organisation.
