Objectives
For those with a teaching post in higher education this course will further their Continuing Professional Development. It will provide intellectual stimulus and the atmosphere to refine strategies for teaching and learning and allow development as a reflective practitioner. The course aims to provide an opportunity to develop best practice in a supportive and collegial environment, through reflection, discussion and experimentation with new strategies for teaching and learning.

Course description
Course content
The course consists of three modules each worth 20 \'M\' level credit points.
* Module One: September-January: Developing the Reflective Practitioner
* Module Two: January-April: Assessment and Programme Design
* Module Three: April-September: A Pedagogical Research Project
Assessment
Assignments from each module are assessed. Course members are asked to be observed in their practice and to observe others and take part in peer review. This forms part of the assessment and also contributes to their personal development portfolio.
Resources and facilities
Teaching will take place in the Ada Byron King building on the Clifton campus which has state-of-the-art teaching rooms and ample work stations.
Study routes
The course is one year, part-time. Currently the course is scheduled for Wednesday afternoons but with one study day each term.
Accreditation
On successful completion of the course, the Post Graduate Certificate in Higher Education is awarded. The PGCHE is also fully accredited by The Institute of Teaching and Learning and membership of ILT is also an entitlement.
Professional development
In addition to the timetabled sessions, colleagues are expected to continue their professional development by working with their School Learning and Teaching co-ordinator and with a mentor from their subject area.
