PG Dip Midwifery

  • Entry requirements Applicants will normally have a 2:2 degree in any subject area, or equivalent international degree level qualification. If English is not your first language you'll need IELTS 7.0 (Academic) or above.

  • Course description  This course will prepare you for registration as a midwife with the Nursing & Midwifery Council (NMC) and to gain a professional qualification. You can choose your study base to be in Bournemouth or Portsmouth, the Bournemouth course starts in September and Portsmouth in February each year.  

    Throughout the course you'll become a proficient and reflective practitioner of midwifery who is able to base their practice on research, holistic care and commitment to lifelong learning. Theory and practice are integrated throughout, and experience is gained in both community and hospital settings, working in partnership with mothers and midwives.

    When on placement you will experience the full 24-hour shift pattern to include 12-13 hour shifts, weekends and night shifts. Our graduates enjoy a range of career opportunities within the NHS and the national private sector, and this qualification is accepted by many countries throughout the world.
