PG Cert Complementary Therapies

  • Objectives Our module delivery encourages peer group discussion. You’ll be given the opportunity to share your professional experiences with others working within an integrated healthcare environment and reflect critically upon your own practice. This programme is of direct relevance if you are involved in the delivery of, or education in complementary therapies. It is of particularly benefit to complementary therapy co-ordinators in diverse healthcare services, such as hospice and mental health community support projects, those teaching on complementary and holistic health programmes, for example in Further Education (however this programme does not confer any teacher status)
  • Entry requirements Entrants will normally have a first degree in a relevant subject, however non standard applications will be considered where applicants can demonstrate equivalent prior study, this may be of particular interest to experienced complementary therapists Mature students, and particularly those with experience as Complementary Therapy (CT) practitioners will be encouraged to apply. Their application will be judged on an individual basis according to their prior learning and professional expertise Where necessary students may be encouraged to study specified level 3 modules as ‘stand alones’ to prepare them for studying the award

    The programme is delivered one day per week (Tuesdays), to enable the widest possible access, especially for those currently in employment

    You will have the opportunity to study alongside students with relevant professional backgrounds to your own, and in many cases your peer group will be experienced CAM practitioners, educators or facilitators

    There is potential to use the module Hypnotherapy: historical and contemporary issues as a stepping-stone onto professional study in hypnotherapy or psychotherapy

    Future prospects

    This award will enhance employability, improving transferable skills in addition to your discipline-specific skills

    This award delivers meaningful professional development, progressing from your undergraduate study in your original discipline

    Furthermore, students requiring CPD hours for professional membership will find that this Postgraduate Certificate offers valuable development, either as a whole programme or by undertaking 'stand alone' modules as an Associate Student

    Lifelong learning capability and employability through the Postgraduate Certificate will give graduates greater diversity and evidencing of skills, helpful to employers
