Course description
This programme is run by our partner college (the European School of Osteopathy), based in Maidstone, Kent. The programme is aimed at those wishing to practise as osteopaths either in the UK or abroad, and is accredited by the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC) permitting practice in the UK to graduates. The qualification may also be carried overseas where recognition depends on the chosen country.
The programme is divided into two years of pre-clinical work aimed at preparing the student for entry into the teaching clinic (integral with the school), followed by two years of clinical work where the student will gain 1,000 hrs of clinical experience which will include a minimum of 50 new patients for whose osteopathic care the student will be responsible, under the supervision of qualified osteopaths acting as clinic tutors.
Programme content reflects the goal to provide the student with the background to become a practising osteopath but also to become a practitioner who is reflective, aware of the need for life-long learning, and of the place of research in an advancing profession.
