ObjectivesThe Masters degree aims to develop in students: - a thorough knowledge of the theory, research and practice in the disciplines of occupational psychology; - practical skills required by an occupational psychologist in a variety of settings; - the ability to design, conduct, analyse and report empirical research so that students are able to contribute to the development of the profession; - knowledge and understanding of ethical issues relevant to the profession; and - an understanding of European and international work environments so that graduates are able to adapt and operate outside the UK.
Entry requirementsStandard Entry All students should normally possess a first or upper second class degree in Psychology or equivalent that must provide the Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society. Work experience will strengthen a candidate's application but is not a requirement. Plus one of the following: * Other: Applicants whose first language is not English will be expected to have proficiency in English at IELTS Level 6.5 or equivalent. Additional Notes Applicants who have completed their degree within the UK are required to provide written proof of GBR status from their UK University. All applicants who have completed their first degree outside the UK are required to apply to the BPS for consideration of GBR. Written confirmation of GBR will be required. Please bear in mind that this process can take a considerable amount of time and relevant applicants should contact the BPS as soon as possible.

COURSEWORK AND ASSESSMENT
The MSc has a range of assessment methods including assignments and unseen examinations. The Professional Skills programme will cover practical skills such as workshop design and the BPS Level A occupational testing course. On successful completion of the Level A training, students will be awarded the Level A Certificate of Competence in Occupational Testing recognised by the BPS. The thesis provides students with an opportunity to carry out an extensive empirical investigation related to a topic of their own choice in occupational psychology. For part-time students the thesis is completed between June and December of the second year.
ACCREDITATION
This programme is fully accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) and provides students with professional training in the field of occupational psychology which is necessary for students to make progress towards becoming a Chartered Occupational Psychologist.

The degree effectively prepares students for a career in Occupational Psychology in a variety of areas including private consultancy, the public sector, research and technical specialisms.
