    Why study Nursing Studies?
    The Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Studies aims to provide graduates from relevant disciplines with the opportunity to develop knowledge and skills to underpin effective care delivery in both hospital and community settings.

    The programme commences with a 6-month Foundation Programme (CFP) followed by 18 months Adult or Mental Health Branch course.

    The programme of study combines academic knowledge and nursing skills development. The emphasis is on learning, through a problem-based approach, how to assess, plan, implement and evaluate holistic and individualised nursing care. Studies will include a variety of placements for example with Primary Health Care teams in the community, looking after patients with complex problems and actutely ill patients in the Accident and Emergency Department, Intensive Care and High Dependancy Units or Acute Services, Community Mental Health, and Specialist Services.

    There is an Internship to prepare students for their role following registration.

    COURSEWORK AND ASSESSMENT
    The programme involves continuous assessment of theory and practice. All modules are assessed using a variety of assessment methodologies which include essays, an examination and completion of Practice Portfolios.
