The programme provides an introduction to the interdisciplinary study of literaturetheology and the arts and allows you to pursue your own particular interests within this.
It is taught in the Centre for the Study of Literature, Theology & the Arts, located in the Department of Theology & Religious Studies, but it enjoys links with other departments in the faculty Ð particularly English Literature and History of Art. The centre constitutes a lively international postgraduate community and you are encouraged to take an active part in all activities. These include research seminars, conferences and an annual academic retreat.
Content
You will study two core courses
* Literary and artistic approaches to sacred texts
* Hermeneutics and interpretation theory.
A third course may be chosen from other options offered within the department or Faculty of Arts.
You will also be required to submit a dissertation of approximately 15,000 words.
