  • Objectives This innovative Masters programme focuses on management at the public/private interface and considers management of state enterprises and public services Students will gain an understanding of the complex and increasingly globalised and market oriented environment within which public policy making and public sector management operates. Increasingly, these are skills that public/voluntary sector employers are looking for.

  • Course description Programme

    The overall objective of this programme is to equip students with an ability to operate within the complex and multi-dimensional environment in which public policies and services are developed and delivered and to give students a base to be better managers and policymakers in the future whether in the public or private sector. Following an induction, students study five core (compulsory)modules which cover:

    -Managing Public Policy
    -Critical Perspectives in Global Management
    -International Strategic Management, Markets and Resources
    -Public/Private Interface
    -Research Methodology.

    Students study three optional modules which include:

    -Organisational Context and Analysis
    -Accounting for Managers
    -Local Governance
    -Health Policy
    -Globalisation.

    Please note, electives shown are examples only - modules may vary each year according to student demand and staff availability.

    The final stage of this Masters degree is the dissertation, a detailed piece of written research with a public/private sector focus, on a public policy or public management topic of your choice.
