  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements Applicants are welcome from holders of a good honours degree (2:2 or above). They will also be expected to have considerable computing experience. Other backgrounds will be considered. International students must demonstrate a good command of the English language and normally would have to undertake an IELTS examination. Students who do not possess the necessary English language grade will be required to gain further English language tuition prior to starting the programme.

  • Course description This advanced MSc/PGD/PGC programme will enable you to act immediately as a professional software engineer. It is directly geared towards the needs of industry, concentrating on the core concepts of the software engineering discipline. In addition it builds upon the substantial expertise (both research and practitioner) that exists within the School; you will gain knowledge of current best practices and explore the latest research. During the project phase, which constitutes one third of the programme you will devise, plan, control and execute a substantial software engineering project that has a real benefit for a sponsor whenever possible coming from an industrial or community organization.

    Note that the majority of the project phase can be undertaken anywhere in the world where adequate communication facilities are available.

    A generic award of a Postgraduate Certificate in Computing is available for those students who gain a minimum of 60 M-level credits from any of the taught modules within this programme (excluding the project).
