MSc Rapid Product Developmen

  • Objectives Product competition, increasing complexity in design and reduced product life cycles have driven industries to develop products more rapidly and more economically. Consequently, new technologies and systems have been developed to assist the designer and the engineer during the development process. This programme aims to develop junior or senior designers and engineers with the necessary knowledge and skills required for the design of modern products in a rapidly changing global design industry. The programme will provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of modern product design and development methods in the strategic management of the design process. It will also cover the use of modern technologies such as computer aided design, computer aided engineering, design and manufacturing simulation, rapid prototyping and rapid manufacturing. From this programme you will gain: -the ability and confidence to apply your knowledge and skills to specific design problems, and also communicate effectively with both those working in the field of product design and with the wider public; -a critical understanding of the design process, product development, project planning, management of human factors, the integration of total quality and decision making analysis; -an extensive understanding of the strengths and limitations of current solid modelling applications and modern analytical techniques and tools; -an extensive knowledge and understanding of the current and emerging materials and manufacturing technologies used for rapid product development, and critical awareness and strategic competence with the use of additive technologies in modern product development processes
