MSc-Postgraduate Diploma in Cancer Chemistry

  • Objectives The course has been designed to teach the fundamentals of the chemistry of cancer and the analytical skills currently used in this area of science. Students will become familiar with the cell and molecular biology of cancer cells and have direct experience of the cancer chemistry field through a significant relevant research project. The course is designed to prepare students for employment as scientists in industry, academia or a research institute by direct entry or following further study e.g. a subsequent PhD.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements A degree with first or second class honours in Chemistry or a related discipline with some knowledge of biochemistry. Overseas applicants will, in addition, be required to satisfy an English Language requirement.

    Teaching and assessment methods

    Teaching is through a combination of lectures, workshops, independent work, group and team work, supervised study and directed reading. Assessment is through written exams, marked assignments, assessed problems, oral examination (viva voce), oral presentations and written project reports.
