Entry requirementsEntry requirements You normally need a degree or equivalent, and some relevant professional experience. We encourage non-graduates with relevant managerial experience to apply. This course is particularly suitable if you are working in a senior position in a school, college or university, or working as an education officer or administrator.

Course descriptionWe designed this course for those who hold positions of responsibility in education to improve their effectiveness as managers. You do this through studying current leadership and management thinking and applying it to educational organisations.
Participants come from all areas of education, including
• nursery, primary and secondary schools
• further and higher education
• nurse education
• local education authorities.
In addition to taught modules, you gain credit from work-based tasks and learning.
Most modules are taught in the evenings and/or weekends with phone and e-mail support offered as well as Blackboard on-line learning environment.
The course is part of the professional development programme in education, enabling participants to access modules from other areas of the programme.
Associated careers
The course may provide the basis for registration for a research degree.
